People Research Activities

The Tree-Ring Lab at Portland State University was established in 1999 and occupies approximately 600 square feet of lab space adjacent to the Geography Department's Map Room and Spatial Analysis Laboratory. The lab includes separate rooms for tree-ring analyses and sample preparation and is equipped with a computerized tree-ring measuring system, scanner, tools for sample preparation, and field equipment for research in dendroecology and vegetation and landscape ecology. The lab represents the collaborative efforts of the Geography Department, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, PSU Facilities Management, and Willamette University that provided the Lab's two networked computers, laser printer, and scanner.

Keith Hadley (PSU) and Karen Arabas (Willamette University) head lab research along with several graduate and undergraduate students from both universities. Details of this research, evidence of our modest but growing research productivity and a virtual tour of the lab can be accessed using the adjacent menu.
